The Police Department maintains 4 temporary holding cells. When
arrested, a suspect is transported to the department for processing. This
includes photographing and fingerprinting the individual and obtaining
background information and personal identifiers such as scars, marks and
tattoos.
Once processed, the suspect has the opportunity to arrange bond while still
at our department, or depending on the charge may be released without posting
a bond. Suspects that are unable to bond out at that time are
later transported to the Pinellas County Jail and will be held there until
they go before a judge seeking a bond reduction or release.
Those persons arrested for D.U.I. (Driving under the influence) are also
brought directly to the police department where they are offered an intoxilyzer
test to determine their blood alcohol level. The blood alcohol level
in Florida is set at .08%. Any person with an unlawful blood
alcohol level is transported to the Pinellas County Jail and held at that
facility until their level drops below .05%. The suspect may then
post a bond, be released pending trial or held in custody depending on
their past DUI history. |
