After the Storm
- Do not head back to St. Pete Beach before the evacuation order has been lifted. All media outlets will be notified as soon as residents can return to the island.
- When you can return home, the re-entry process will be sped up if you have a re-entry tag hanging from your rearview mirror. This tag will enable you to quickly bypass other cars who do not have tags and are waiting to show proof of residency. Your tag will be clearly marked with your designated neighborhood. If we are hit by a severe storm, do not travel outside your designated area; if you do, the Police will order you back to your home. This will not be a time for sightseeing. The nighborhood designations are an added way for our Police Departmet to better protect your home from looters and unwanted onlookers. Click here for more information in the tags.
- Be Patient. When you do return, the initial trip should be to check up on the condition of your property and to establish a plan for the recovery process. This is not necessarily the time to bring your family and all your possessions with you. Once you are back, work within the system and develop patience with the process of rebuilding your life.
