From 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.,
The library will host a Sensory Friendly browsing hour before normal business hours so visitors can have a chance to explore and ask questions during a quieter, low-traffic time. The library will have ear plugs, ear coverings, and more available for those who experience sensory defensiveness. The lighting will be reduced throughout the library and there will be separate areas for noise and quiet.
We are looking forward to this event fostering a community conversation where we hear from neurodivergent members of our community and their caregivers about their needs and desires for visits to the library. For those interested in preparing ahead of time, we have our Social Experience Story for visiting the library on our website under the "About" section.
